Aspiring UX Designer: Crafting Digital Experiences with Purpose
Embark on a journey into the digital realm where creativity, technology, and empathy converge to shape seamless and user-centric experiences. I am Aswathy Vijayan Nair, an aspiring User Experience (UX) designer driven by the visionary words of Don Norman, the pioneer of the term "User Experience." His emphasis on the holistic journey from initial intentions to final reflections fuels my passion for crafting inclusive and intuitive digital spaces.
Currently pursuing a Master's in Digital Media at Toronto Metropolitan University, I am equipping myself with the technical and creative skills required to excel in UX design. This interdisciplinary program offers me hands-on experience in user research, digital storytelling, and design thinking, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Building on my academic foundation in English Language and Literature, I bring a nuanced understanding of Critical Studies, Literary Studies, and Rhetorical Studies to UX design, enabling me to craft user-centered solutions with depth and empathy.
My journey into UX design began during my BA and MA studies, where I analyzed works like Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill and explored the impact of social media on youth in the context of Artificial Intelligence. This diverse experience, combined with my consistent ranking in the top 10% of my MA program, underscores my dedication to academic excellence and critical thinking. Beyond academics, I actively engage in community service, excel in quizzing and academic writing, and leverage five years of experience in psychologically analyzing various forms of writing to contribute meaningfully to UX research and design.
My involvement in the National Service Scheme (NSS) during school and university highlights my commitment to social service. Spearheading initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the fabrication of masks and face shields for the needy, demonstrates my dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Dance has been a lifelong passion that I embraced wholeheartedly during my BA years and continued in my MA journey. Beyond dance, my diverse interests include easy writing competitions, extempore speaking, cultural skits, pencil sketching, painting, embroidery, and enthusiastic participation in quizzes.
As I aspire to become a UX designer, I eagerly seek mentorship and enrichment from industry experts. With enthusiasm, I aim to leverage my unique blend of skills and knowledge, contributing meaningfully to the discourse on Digital Media while advancing my aspirations in the dynamic field of UX Design.
